Southern island of New Zealand had been hit with a Richter scale 7.1 magnitude earthquake in the early morning of September 4th, local time; the quake had destroyed several buildings and severed power lines two people were severely injured.  The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center had subsequently released a report saying that there are currently no evidence of a widespread tsunami occurring with a quake of this magnitude, but warns that regional tsunamis are possible.
